The Governing Council of Gregory University (GU), Uturu, Abia State, has appointed Prof. Moses Onwukwe Iwuala as the second substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.

According to a statement signed by the Registrar, Dr. Austin Orisakwe, it said the appointment followed the completion of the tenure of the first VC, Prof. Juliet Elu, “whose vision, pioneering efforts, dedication and exemplary leadership not only encouraged the establishment of the institution on a strong moral and academic foundation but also stimulated the emergence of the school as the preferred destination of choice for sound entrepreneurial training”.

Orisakwe described Prof Iwuala as a distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences who holds a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), M.Sc and Ph.D degrees from the University of London.

He explained that before his appointment, Prof Iwuala had garnered more than 30 years outstanding university career, as a seasoned and acclaimed academic, serving in highly reputable institutions in the process. During this period, he acquired extensive relevant experience in different spheres of university management and rose to occupy many top administrative positions.

An accomplished Research and Development expert, Prof Iwuala is a custodian of a Registered Scientific Patent, and has upwards of one hundred peer-reviewed Scientific Publications to his credit, mostly in the areas of Parasitology and Vector Biology, Ecology and Control.

He has also served and continuous to serve, meritoriously as Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Adviser and Member of Editorial Board of a vast range of Professional Journals in Pure and Applied Sciences. Furthermore, he remains an accomplished Fellow and active member of numerous Professional Bodies, locally and abroad.

Professor Iwuala has since assumed office as the second substantive Vice Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu.
