A group, Concerned Ondo Youths, has accused Ondo Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, of undermining the All Progressives Congress (APC) by funding Action Alliance (AA) candidates in the state.

The group said the governor is working against the APC, while supporting the AA candidates in the state.

Coordinator of the group, Saheed Atunwa, said, in Akure, that Akeredolu had concluded arrangements to release substantial state funds to all the local government caretaker chairmen and supervisory councillors in the state, to mobilise support for candidates contesting on the AA platform.

Atunwa alleged that Akeredolu had also perfected plans to release funds to all the sacked Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government chairmen and councillors. The group said the governor’s activities could cause the APC to lose the forthcoming polls across the state. It called on the national leadership of the party to call the governor to order and warned that the APC might be destroyed in the state.

In a swift reaction, Akeredolu dismissed the group and described the allegations against him as total fabrication. His Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, said the group’s allegations, which he claimed consisted of a few disgruntled elements, were laughable.
