Group, Niger Delta Youth Council Of Nigeria (NDYCN) has called for a forensic audit of the activities of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the supervision of immediate past Sole Administrator, Effiong Akwa.

President of the group, Ufuoma Erharhine in a statement on Saturday said the audit became necessary due to the “poor performance” of the commission under Akwa.

To him, under Akwa, there was “corruption, contract scam and failure to address infrastructural needs of people in the Niger Delta” within the period he held sway as head of the commission.

He then called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to beam its searchlight on activities of the intervening agency under Akwa’s supervision.

“We recognize the effort of the minister of Niger Delta Affairs in positioning the NDDC to meet up its core mandate of service delivery to our people.

“We must as well acknowledge the achievement of Godswill Akpabio with the support of President Muhammadu Buhari for completing the construction of the NDDC Secretariat as a legacy.

“We demand outright probe of Akwa, immediate release of the results of a forensic probe conducted on the NDDC under the immediate past administration, appointment and inauguration of governing board members or we mobilise our youths in protest to the office of EFCC”, he threatened.

He however lamented the inability of the federal government under the administration of President Buhari to appoint the substantive head of NDDC, attributing the “bad leadership” experienced overtime at the commission to a “lack of a responsible and duly appointed administrator”.
