Group, Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the appointment of Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom as Director General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office for a second and final term of four (4) years.

The new appointment takes effect from today, January 12, 2023 when the first appointment expires having been appointed on January 12, 2019 for an initial period of four (4) years.

Speaker, AYA, Mohammed Salihu Danlami in a statement agreed with the presidency that, Obadiah’s re-appointment was a product of the discipline, hardwork, commitment, consistency and unique leadership qualities he has continuously injected into the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office that has been performing excellently since his first tenure.

To him, “parts of your achievements include the creation of the most needed zonal offices in Kaduna, Jos, Ibadan, Benin, Maiduguri and Enugu.

“A record breaking revenue generation of over N8.9 billion to the Federal Government, the highest in the history of the agency, accounting for 50% of the contribution of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development to the economy.

“Digitalization of all the office’s activities to online platform called eMC Plus for transparency and efficient service delivery to the public, an innovation that led to the naming of the Agency as best Agency of the Federal Government in the category of Digital Innovation Awards for the year 2022 by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA).

“This has led to successes both in Nigeria and abroad attracting foreign investors to know more and subsequently go into partnership with the Agency.

“The DG is surely a mining expert, has has made various contributions both locally and internationally, versatile and multitalented, endowed with the technical know how and leadership qualities to turn the agency around for good.

“He equally has a large heart, philanthropic in nature, as was recently demonstrated by his gesture towards Northern Youths who were affected by the flood and others too numerous to mention.

“Your re-appointment as the DG gives you a chance of continuity and consolidation, strong mandate to finish up the gigantic reform you have subjected the Agency to.
