From Felix Ikem, Nsukka
Nsukka Town Union in Enugu has praised Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for conducting free and fair local government election in the state recently.
The union said its unanimous support for Ugwuanyi was appreciative of his rural developmental agenda and what he has done in Nsukka so far and the state at large. “We will do everything within our reach to ensure that he returns to the Lion Building, in 2019.”
The union also praised the development initiatives of the immediate past Transition Committee Chairman of the council, Chief Dr. Ejike Asadu.
The endorsements came barely one month after the inauguration of new council members across the state.
President-General of the union, Mr. Chinweaku, eulogised Asadu, during a chat, and said the union is proud of him for lending a helping hand in some difficult areas of development in Nsukka.
“Within his three months on the seat, Chief Asadu did and achieved what so many local government chairmen could not achieve in two years. He rehabilitated Onuiyi Road, Amobi Street, Odobido Market, Ikpa Market Road which had been a death trap for motorists. Other roads he gave a facelift are TTC Road, Senator Okoro Road, Aku Road a portion of which has been tarred, Beach Junction, Police Barracks Road, new Anglican Road. Dr. Asadu also renovated Nsukka Local Government secretariat.”
The union, however, prayed for Gods protection for the new Council Chairman, Chief Patrick Omeje (Oka Igbo n’Igbo).
Chinweaku noted that Omeje’s developmental strategies and actions are wonderful and prayed his tenure will be fruitful.
and satisfying to the good majority of the people as he has started very excellently well.
