Worried by the high rate of unemployment in the country, Promotion of Human Aid and Community Development in Africa (PHACODA), a non-governmental organisation, has concluded plans to collaborate with members of the National Assembly to launch its vocational skills programme.

According to the group, the skills acquisition programme will involve select youths from the 36 states of the federation, who will undertake any of the 25 available courses.

The group’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Napsa Yusuf, in statement yesterday, disclosed that its Director of Programmes, Mr. Chidiomimi Angels, had reached out to some select senators based on their track record of performance, especially in the aspect of youth empowerment.

He said some had indicated interest to work with the organisation to enable it achieve its employment creation goals, adding that they had compiled a list of outstanding senators who have distinguished themselves in their legislative duties.

According to him, the list includes the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; Senator Uche Ekwunife; Senator Ifeanyi Uba; Senator Michael Nnachi; Senator Phillip Aduda; Senator Utazi Chukwuka; Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe; Senator Frank Ibezim, among others.
