A group, based in Lagos, Edeoga Grassroots Movement, has demanded that candidates vying for any political post on the platform of the Labour Party must keep to the policies of the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi. The convener of the group, Emma Ugwu, gave the warning while hosting some Enugu State Labour Party candidates, including its gubernatorial candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, to a dinner in Ikeja, Lagos State, recently.

“The policy Enugu indigenes need is not stomach infrastructure, but sustainable policies. Peter Obi does not play politics of making people happy but result-oriented politics. People trust him because he made his mark in Anambra, a neighbouring state. Why can’t we have a better version of Peter Obi? We don’t need politicians who only think about re-election and godfathers, we want leaders who have the foresight to forge us ahead,” he stated.

Replying to the request of the group, Edeoga, said that the reason he crossed to the party from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was to stop PDP from slowing down the development of the state, adding that the state had potential to the be the tourist centre of the Southeast, but its potential has never been tapped.

Edeoga, a two-time commissioner under the current administration, said his work spoke for him like Peter Obi.
