Officers and soldiers of the Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, have been commended for maintaining a high standard of regimentation, professionalism and discipline in carrying out their duties.
The Brigade has also been commended for the continuous training of its personnel to make them more responsive to their responsibilities.
Deputy Chief of Intelligence at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Major-General Adamu Jalingo, who made this known at the maiden Guards Brigade Inter-Battalion Change of Guards competition, described ceremonial and regimental paraded as a very unique aspect of every army, as it forms the bedrock of regimentation and discipline.
Gen. Jalingo, while noting that the procedures of parade necessitated its inclusion into the brigade’s training directive for 2017, said “you must understand that this event intends to make you participants study, master and perfect the procedure involved in your routine change of guard parade”.
He, therefore, charged them to imbibe the spirit of training to sustain the high standards of the brigade.
