The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Dr Yusuf Gwanna and the state Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Sule Garo, were last night arrested by the Kano State police command

Also arrested was the former Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government Area in the state, Alhaji Lamin Sani.

They were moved to the Bompai headquarters of the command by a team of officers where they were expected to be questioned in connection with the controversy that broke out following the collation of the results of Nassarawa Local Government Area.

Contacted for further details, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi said he was at a meeting.

INEC is yet to deliver the results of Nassarawa Local Government area in the state. But the results of the 43 local government areas which were announced last night showed that the People’s Democratic Party candidate had a very narrow lead.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had suspended the collation of Kano governorship election results in the early hours of Monday.

Kano State INEC Commissioner, Professor Riskuwa Shehu, and the Presiding Officer, Professor B B Shehu, both announced the decision to adjourn the process over an alleged attack on Nassarawa Collation Centrer.
