Obinna Odogwu, Abakaliki
The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, has swept all the declared results of the 2019 governorship election in the state.
Umahi cleared all the results from the 13 local government areas of the state with a wide margin, leaving his closest rival, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) far behind.
Thirty six candidates of other political parties participated in the election whose results are being collated at the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Although the State Collation Officer, Professor Frank, Chukwuemeka Eze, has not officially announced the winner of the polls, the results from the 13 LGAs show that the PDP has won the highest numbers of votes cast.
