Habu Gumel has been re-elected president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) for the fifth term in office just the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Ahmadu Musa Kida is the new Treasurer of the Olympic body.

Gumel polled 21 votes to defeat his closest rival Sani Ndanusa, a former Tennis Federation president and one time NOC president who scored 17 votes.

The former Director of facilities, Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development is coming in for a fifth term as president of the NOC.

Born April 1, 1949, Gumel from the Volleyball Federation leads the executive of the Nigeria Olympic Committee which includes Solomon Ogba who emerged as the first vice president with a total of 23 votes to defeat Francis Orbih who scored 17 votes.

Kida on his part is a member of the FIBA Council on Finance and is bring his wealth of experience to the NOC.

The position of second vice chairman went to Ishaku Tikon who was unopposed while the position of third vice president went to former Tigers captain, Olumide Oyedeji who polled 24 votes as against 15 votes for Daniel Igali and 1 vote for Maria Worphil.

President of the Nigeria School Sports Federation, Bisi Joseph with a total vote of 23 emerged the 4th vice chairman defeating Rahinatu Garba (9 votes) and Hauwa Kulu Akinyemi (5 votes) while Tunde Popoola makes a return as Secretary General with 24 votes as against 5 votes for Mrs. Toyin Esther Aluko. The office of Deputy Secretary General went to Abdullahi who was unopposed while Tony Nezianya makes a return as the PRO.   Nezianya ousted the the former PRO in the person of Phemmy Adetula.
