A gunman has reportedly shot one person dead and another injured in Agber area of Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The gunman simply identified as Solomon, according to an eyewitness, who did not want her name in prints, had gone berserk, last Saturday, and started shooting sporadically in the area during which a member of vigilance group in Agber village and another person were shot.
Although information was still sketchy at the time of filing this report as to why the suspect would decide to take people’s lives just like that.
It was learnt that the two victims were immediately rushed to the hospital but the vigilante member, who was also said to be a commercial motorcyclist and married with children, died on the way to the hospital while the other victim is currently recuperating at an undisclosed hospital.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the report said the attacker, who is an ex-convict, is now at large but that the police was already on his trail.
