Gunmen at the weekend killed an artisan, Valentine Enwerem, at the Orji Mechanic village along the Owerri-Okigwe road in Imo State, and abducted three occupants of the vehicle he was driving.

According to one of the decreased colleague, who narrated the incident to our correspondent: “They said they didn’t come for him and asked him to cooperate with them. They later shot him dead and zoomed off towards the Okigwe end of the road after kidnapping the people in the vehicle.”

Also, gunmen abducted two All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains at different locations at Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.

One of them, Chief Godson Obijiaku, was kidnapped at his community in Amauzari, while another politician, who is also a businessman from the Ikeduru LGA, popularly known as ‘Ability’, was kidnapped at a pharmaceutical shop at Amaraku, Imo State.

A source that does not want to be mentioned said: “Chief Obijiaku, an aspirant for the upcoming LGA chairmanship election, has been kidnapped.

“As they approached Amaraku, we saw a Tundra vehicle parked in front of a pharmaceutical shop, they stopped, went there and kidnapped Chief Ability and released multiple gunshots as they made their way out of the environment.”

The spokesperson for the police in the state, Micheal Abattam’s phone line could not be reached to comment on the incident.
