A Lebanese engineer working with a construction firm, Triacta Construction Company, Mr. Sagir Ahmed, has been abducted by unknown armed men in Kano State.

His Nigerian driver, identified as Alphonsus, was shot and killed by the gunmen in the process while another occupant sustained an injury, a witness said.

The witnesses told our correspondent that the armed men arrived at the scene of the crime in a Gulf 3 vehicle, adding that they struck at about 7 20 am when the traffic was very light and dislodged their victims who were driving in a Hilux vehicle with registration number RBC 597 XA

“The armed men immediately fled with their target (the Lebanese) while the injured Nigerians were left in a pool of blood,” the witness said.

Confirming the incident, Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, told our correspondent that the armed men shot at one of the victims by the name Alphonsus adding that another occupant of the vehicle, Abdullahi Mohammed, sustained bullet injuries.

He explained that the two victims were immediately rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical attention, adding that while Alphonsus was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital. Abdullahi was admitted in the hospital where he is receiving treatment as at press time.

According to him, the police have swung into action, diligently combing the scene and the surrounding environment for possible rescue and arrest.

He added that the command also has extended its dragnet across the state adding that it would do everything possible to rescue the abducted Lebanese as well as bring the perpetrators of the crime to book.
