it was a day of glamour and joy in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital as the governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun gave his first daughter, Miss Ayomide Amosun’s hand out in marriage to Mr. Oladipo Dabiri, the son of Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The wedding ceremony which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life had in attendance the Acting President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, serving and former governors, All Progressives Congress party leaders, members of the National Assembly and state houses of assembly, royal fathers as well as business moguls.

African Church Primary School, Ita Iyalode, Abeokuta, the venue of the traditional engagement and Nikkah ceremony was filled to capacity with dignitaries, whose power dressing and Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) marked them out as the fortunate ones.

Meanwhile, one of the low points of the event was the activity of miscreants who unfortunately gained access into the specially designed marquee for the purpose of the wedding. Society Gists was privy to all the heinous activities of the miscreants who stole from the high and mighty. As the dignitaries were being entertained, some security officials and miscreants were busy extorting money from the dignitaries and relieving them of their belongings.

Among victims of these miscreants was the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who lost his very expensive phone to them. Also a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Gbenga Obadara lost his phone and was somber till he eventually left the event.

The event was chaired by Hon. Justice Alfa Belgore who was at his best and also advised the couple on how to be best of friends. “What is happening today is a testimony of the kindness and good character of the couple’s parents,” he said while praying that God would continue to protect the union and give the couple wisdom to live in perfect harmony.

Expressing his joy, the bride’s father and Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun thanked all for honouring his family and sharing in his family’s happiness, urging the couple to imbibe tolerance, trust and the fear of God as the foundation of their marriage.
