Fast rising gospel and R&B singer, Michael Macaulay whose latest single, Let’s Dance is inspired by the pandemic ravaging the world.
Macaulay disclosed he is working hard so that his debut album titled “Euaggelion” ( Greek word for The Gospel), which comprises of genre like dancehall, praise and worship, Afro Pop songs will be released very soon.
The young artist says “ I would have waited to release the track after the pandemic, but seeing other gospel musicians release their album, he decided to use the occasion to launch his own.
” The truth is we have been praying about the pandemic and that God has given us victory over it so we need to praise God for the victory.
The artist says his songs are inspirational, as he sings about love and things happening around him just as he would never sing vulgar songs.
Macaulay disclosed his foray into the entertainment industry started as a dancer at the age of 8 in the choir. ” I would follow my mother to the choir and my duty is to dance when the songs are played. I do dance and people will come to spray money on me as a result, I made money for the choir and myself.
As a teenager, he listens to musicians like Westlife and BackStreet boys which inspired him. Later, he joined a Juju Band as an alto background singer. He also learnt Christian Western Music under the leadership of Soji and Tomiwa at Badagry.
Macaulay further adds God is his major source of inspiration and he is inspired by his environment.
The gospel artiste says he doesn’t recycle songs by other musicians rather he composes his songs. For example, the track ‘Without You’ comes from deep meditations about the afterlife and true gain from this present life. The necessity is inevitable that we won’t be alive in forever, and what we do determines what the other life will look like.
Macaulay has a unique appearance which is his hair. According to him, he likes to dress simple and keep his hair well cut and in good shape.
