The Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group, Ezikel Adamu, has said that Nigeria is not taking advantage of being the largest market for drinks consumption and that has forced the market stakeholders to disregard the incentives due to the country.

Ezikel stated this yesterday at the unveiling of the International Drinks Festival, which holds from December 1 to 3, adding that more than 10,000 consumers, 5000 professionals and 200 exhibitors will witness the event.

He also stated that the aim of the festival is not only to cash on the consumption power of the country, but also to educate consumers on the differences in the adulterated and originals drinks, “as the fake ones are very harmful to health.”

According to him, Nigeria is the largest drink consumption in Africa, but noted,  “that has not yielded anything to our economy. We are not just going to have only the foreign drinks but also our local flavours. You will see that the local drinks compete greatly with the foreign drinks”.

He added that the event would boost Lagos State tourism rating because it is the largest drink festival gathering in Africa, featuring; free tasting, acquiring knowledge of master class and summit, discounted sales and world-class entertainment.
