To many friends and admirers of Funmilayo Mary Waheed-Adekojo, the maverick societal engineer and musician, she’s a chronic goal-getter who has been driven right from childhood to better the systemic structures, standards and styles of living in her society. As she grows, Funmilayo, popularly called Funmi Ayinke, among friends and fans, has never lost steam in her quest through her dynamic focus on the engineering profession, humanitarianism, music and philanthropy.

A bundle of brains, beauty and courage, Funmilayo – a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso— is the founder of FunmiAyinke Nigeria Limited, a multi-faceted engineering outfit and duly certified member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. Just as the 39 year-old Funmilayo is devoted to re-engineer the society through her mechanical profession, she has equally grown her humanitarian movement and metro music, all to improve the systemic structures of her society and the standards and lifestyles of the individuals therein through FunmiAyinke Humanity Foundation (FHF) and FunmiAyinke Records Label (FRL) respectively. To underscore music as a strong channel to pass good messages across to her target audience, Funmilayo, in October 2020, released her debut single entitled “It’s Our Time” during the #EndSars protests in Nigeria. As part of her re-branding process, the songbird is currently working on a new body of work which she will be releasing soon as an Extended Play ‘EP’.

As a mechanical engineer who is making remarkable professional impacts in her industry, FunmiAyinke has been factually recognized and honoured as the Ambassador to the NORD Automobile Company. But for all her humanitarian and philanthropic impacts, Funmilayo recently was honoured and appointed as an Ambassador of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by the Peace Corps of Nigeria. With this new honour in her kitty, the Ondo State-born mechanical and societal engineer has further gained attention and earned more public expectations in her quest for a better society.
