For Shaapera Make Peace Mnena, winner of Tecno Own the Stage karaoke reality show, it was a great moment. Last Sunday, the 29-year-old pretty lady walked away with $25,000 (N7.5 million) grand prize after beating four other contestants to the game.

Sikin from Kenya emerged 3rd runner-up with Pascal also from Kenya and Nandy from Tanzania coming 3rd and 2nd respectively. The finale ended with an exciting after party at one of Nigeria’s hottest spots, Quilox Night Club in Lagos.

Speaking at the finale, Head of Public Relations and Talent for M-Net West Africa, Efosa Aiyevbomwan said: “It’s been an exciting 12 weeks as all of Africa watched the amazing contestants battle for the grand prize and the honour of being the inaugural Own the Stage winner. At M-Net and Africa Magic, we are committed to investing in the African entertainment industry and the talent that drives it. Shapeera is the latest talent to be unraveled, courtesy Tecno Own the Stage.”

Mr. Attai Oguche, Deputy Marketing Manager, Tecno Mobile, said: “Tecno remains resolute in rewarding and encouraging talent across Africa and Own the Stage competition is a testament to this fact. Shapeera now has a chance to show the rest of the world just what she is made of.”
