The Managing Director, Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, has directed the Staff of the commission to, as a matter of urgency, make declaration of their assets before the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The Managing Director also warned the staff against any sharp practice in the discharge of their duties in the newly established commission, saying that the commission would soon establish anti-corruption and transparency unit to monitor the activities of the staff members.

Sadiq Yelwa handed down the warning in Minna at the opening of a two-day workshop organized by the commission in collaboration with the Code of Conduct Bureau to ensure strict compliance with asset declaration, adding that the aim of the training was to enshrine transparency and accountability in the system.

The Managing Director emphasized that the training and retraining of staff policy of the commission would be sustained in other to enhance productivity.

Earlier, the Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau, Professor Isah Mohammed, represented by Zakaraya Ishaku Bulus commended the management of the HYPPADEC for its zero tolerance for corruption, stressing that the workshop would go a long way in educating the staff on the implications of not submitting themselves before the Code of Conduct Bureau for their assets declaration.

The Consultant for the workshop, Dr Ibrahim Shehu, stated that the training workshop would focus mainly on how to fill the assets declaration form devoid of error, assets declaration in fighting corruption and conflict of interest as causes of corruption, among others.
