The BET Awards recently took place in June 2021 and were celebrated with a ‘year of the Black Woman’ theme. Taraji P. Henson did the hosting honors for the award ceremony. The award function took place in Los Angeles in the Microsoft Theatre. The audience globally joined the award ceremony virtually, but the entertainment was in full energy mode.

So, in the BET awards, the black women who were honored by the jury were Queen Latifah with the Lifetime Achievement Award for the amazing success of her ‘decade long career’. The award show gave a special tribute to rapper DMX, who died this year because of a heart attack. Special performances were held from Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Griselda, Swiss Beatz, and many more in his memory. Other winners declared in the award show for the Album of the Year were Chloe & Halle for Ungodly Hour, Jazmine Sullivan was declared the winner for her album Heaux Tales, Da Baby received the award for Blame it on Baby, and many more.
BET Awards Winner
There were many categories in the BET Awards 2021 from which the winners were chosen. H.E.R was declared winner in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category, Chris Brown was declared winner in Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, The Best Music Group that won the award was Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic, and Anderson. Paak and the Best Collaboration award went to ‘WAP’ that was Cardi B Ft. and Megan Thee Stallion.
The Best Male and Female Hip Hop Artist awards went to Lil Baby and Megan Thee Stallion. Again ‘WAP’ by Cardi B Ft. and Megan Thee Stallion was awarded the Video of the Year. Giveon was awarded the Best New Artist, Florent Dechard, and Bruno Mars clinched awards for Video Director of the Year. Nigerian artist Burna Boy got a prize for the Best International Act, and the BET Her Award was given to Sza for ‘Good Days.’
Judas and the Black Messiah was awarded the Best Movie, and the Viewer’s Choice Award was presented to Megan Thee Stallion Ft. Beyonce’s song ‘Savage Remix.’ Chadwick Boseman was awarded Best Actor and Andra Day, the Best Actress. Naomi Osaka and Lebron James clinched awards for Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year. Another award for Best International Act under the Viewer’s Choice was given to international artist Bree Runway from the UK. The recognition of the black, especially the Nigerian artists, have undoubtedly boosted the film and music industry.
