Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, yesterday said he has no preferred candidates in today’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention.

In a statement issued by his media office, Atiku said his interest was in the emergence of a more virile PDP after the convention.

The former vice president noted that, as an advocate of internal democracy in a political party system, he believes all the aspirants for the respective elective positions are eminently qualified, adding that the challenge before the delegates is to vote according to their conscience.

According to him, “as our great political party set forth to elect new set of national officers for the party today, we must put the interest of the party first and I urge our delegates to vote for people they believe will better promote the interest of the party.

“I wish all members and leaders of our great party, the PDP a successful national convention just as I wish all the aspirants luck in their endeavours.”
