Former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, has disowned Twitter and other social media accounts purportedly owned by him.

Babangida said the accounts bearing his name and photographs are fictitious and are aimed at misleading unsuspecting members of the public.

A message issued through his Media Office, yesterday, urged the public to be wary of such fake accounts and discountenance whatever message they convey.

“The attention of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has been drawn to the existence of several Twitter handles and other social media accounts, purportedly owned by him.

“In the light of the unfortunate development, the media handlers of the former military president wishes to inform the general public, particularly the social media community that IBB, as he is fondly called, currently has no active Twitter account and does not operate any other social media site”, the media office said.

The office further advised the social media community and the general public to discountenance whatever message they convey about the former leader.
