Mr. David Olori, the 48-year old cooking gas vendor, who allegedly murdered his wife, Oghogho,, in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, has opened up on why and how he committed the act.
Olori, who surrendered himself to the police, said he got into an early morning domestic argument with his late wife on the fateful day.
The suspect told journalists while being paraded in Asaba by the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Mohammed Ali, that the argument centered on the N300, 000.00 which the now late wife loaned to him to inject into his business.
He said when the argument became heated, the 42-year old late wife held him, insisting that he was not leaving the house that early morning until the issues were sorted out.
The 48-year old suspect said he then pushed Oghogho against the burglary proof near the bed where she just woke up from.
Without giving a hoot about the outcome of the push, Olori said he bounced out of the apartment, and locked the door against the victim.
Hear him: “It was around 6am on October 30 that I had an argument with my wife at home that very morning about issue of money and other things. She gave me the money (N300,000) for business which she was talking about that morning. That was the thing that caused the argument.
“That morning, I was about leaving the house and she was asking me about the money and how we could move forward. I told her that we should discuss it later when I returned.
“She insisted that we talk things over. We went into an argument and she held me, then I pushed her, and she used her head to hit the burglary proof very close to the bed she woke up from.
“I didn’t know that she was injured and bleeding, I locked the door and just bounced out of the house with annoyance. I have my own keys and she had her own keys to the house,” he said.
The suspect said he regretted killing his wife of 13 years.
“Now, I regret the action. Assuming I knew it was going to result in her death, I could not have pushed her. I love her. We have been married for 13 years and we have not be having issues,” he added.
Parading the suspect, CP Ali said it was the late woman’s younger brother who came visiting that raised the alarm when he discovered that an offensive odour was emitting from the locked apartment.
Ali said the police received a distressed call and mobilised to the scene “broke into the apartment and discovered that the victim has been murdered and the husband was nowhere to be found.
“The command embarked on manhunt for the husband who was suspected to have committed the offence.
“Consequently, on November 3, 2022, the husband of the victim reported himself at the police station and confessed to the crime, stating that he murdered her over a disagreement.”
Ali stated that the matter was still being investigated.
