That Kayset, a fast-rising singer is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian music space is not in doubt. Coming on the heels of his latest single, Nwanne, featuring Yogi which was released recently, he has lent his voice to the discussion on the outlook of the Nigeria music industry post COVID-19.
He said: “The Nigeria music industry was doing very well pre COVID-19. In fact, COVID-19 practically came to reset the system and give everyone a level playing field to create new things.
“As you very well know, during the active COVID-19, many musicians could not do much with regards to music. Many couldn’t shoot music videos, concerts couldn’t hold and tours were on hold and then competition amongst artists reduced drastically. But now that COVID-19 is waning off, things are beginning to become normal. Summer tours and festivals are beginning to be held in several countries across the world; artists are beginning to travel to perform at shows.“
“For me, I see a bigger Nigeria music industry post COVID-19. I see new music champions coming to take their positions in the league of stars. I see a good number of old artists retiring also, especially those who really suffered the impact of COVID-19 in their music business. And for those who are not retiring, i see them coming out stronger than ever because they have had an ample amount of time to rest and re-strategize.”
Speaking on his latest single entitled Nwanne featuring Yogi he continued: “The response has been terrific! I am overwhelmed that the single has gained so much traction, I am calling all of my fans to watch out!”
