Chief Achike Udenwa has clarified his invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

Reacting to the news making the rounds about the arrest of the former governor, his media aide, Peter Agba Kalu, said Chief Udenwa was never arrested, but invited by the anti-graft agency, which treated him with utmost courtesy.

“The attention of the governor has been drawn to the news making the circle about the arrest of Achike Udenwa and it is important to clarify some basic facts. His excellency was never arrested as he honoured an invitation by EFCC, which is normal. He was never detained rather, the EFCC officials treated him with courtesy and respect and simply requested information on the campaign funding which he obliged.

“The campaign fund for Imo State was received like all presidential campaign funds in the 36 states of the federation. It was lodged in a joint account opened solely for that purpose.”
