For emerging Nigerian artiste Freeborn Emojevu, popularly known as “Jefay”, one of his dream come true would be to have a music collaboration with Africa’s top music stars, in the likes of Davido, Burna Boy, Teni The Entertainer and others.

 

Jefay from Ofuoma town, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State who is also a professional songwriter, in this interesting interview with The Sun, shared his music journey, challenges and well as his motivations to stand out in the entertainment industry.

Can you give us an insight into your educational achievements and work experiences?

I have a degree in business education from Delta State University, Abraka Nigeria. I also have a vocational experience in building construction.

 

 

Many regarded 2020 a lost year. What are the gains and losses for you and for your showbiz business?

The year 2020 is indeed a lost year for many entertainer all over the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown so there’s no way anyone can make gains from showbiz business.

 

 

How long have you be doing music, and how did the journey start?

I have been doing music for a long time now. I remember in my secondary school days, during break hour, there’s this my friend who will say come let’s go and do some singing and rapping, even after school hours I go to their house and both of us will go to a quite place and do the music thing. That’s how I started. But professionally it has been 11 years.

 

 

How would you describe your genre of music? 

My genre of music is Afropop

 

 

Have you dropped any album yet? If yes title and inspiration? 

 

No album yet but I have dropped My first EP titled “GOODNESS” on April 23, 2021 in all musical platforms worldwide and my inspiration for the EP is all about my love stories.

How has it been coping as an greenhorn in this fiercely competitive Nigerian music industry?

 

I will say I feel free and good, I believe it’s not about gender of male or female, it’s about you, to enjoy and be happy with what you’re doing as a musician and keep leaning. I’m happy and proud for being a male musician.

 

 

What’s your unique selling point?

My unique selling point is social media, that’s where I can reach out to everyone who will also love to get contact with me, fan and friends.

 

 

In teams of growth, what areas are you planning to improve in your music business?

In my music business I will love to improve in promotion and collaboration

 

 

 

Who are does top star you are hoping to have a collaboration with in the future?

 

I’m always hoping to have a collaboration with 2face Davido, Akon Burna Boy Teni and so on.

 

 

 

What are the biggest lessons of life you learned so far? 

So far so good i learnt to be in dependable, learnt to be humble and being focus on my goals.

 

 

Are you in any relationship at the moment?

Yes I have a fiancé

 

How do you define an ideal woman 

(wife material)?

I will define my idea woman as a lovely woman with a big heart of gold, can also be a wife material.
