The prestigious 1925 Ibadan Tennis Club, reputed to be the first indigenous sports and social club in Nigeria, has bestowed its revered recognition of life honorary membership on the AIG in charge of Zone XI, AIG Christy Cookey, CP Adebowale Williams of Oyo State Police Command and Mogaji Ibrahim Aramide Olaniyan, PCRC National Chairman.

The decoration of these important personalities was done recently at the premises of the club at Iyaganku Ibadan when the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Zonal Chairman for Zone XI, Otunba Obafemi Arowosola and the president of Ibadan Tennis Club, Dr. Oladipo Sule, organised a civic reception for the AIG Christy Cookey.

Other dignitaries that attended the colourful event included the National Deputy Secretary, Mrs. Mary Samuel-Joseph, Oyo State PCRC Chairperson, Mrs. Esther Adegbenjo, PCRC Federal Capital Territory Chairman, Otunba Bolaji Adigun, and lots of other PCRC stalwarts.

The President of the Club, Dr. Sule in his remark expressed joy for having the top law enforcement officers felicitating with members of the first metropolitan sports club in Nigeria while assuring them of a warm reception in their subsequent visit to the club.

The AIG, in her response, thanked the leadership of ITC and the PCRC chieftains that organised the event for the good gesture and spirit of sportsmanship.

Speaking in the same vein, CP Adebowale also expressed his gratitude for the honour while promising a cordial and more robust relationship with the Ibadan Tennis Club and the PCRC leadership.
