The Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) has constructed and donated  a new lecture theater to the newly established Federal University in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State with over 200 students capacity.

While handling over the building to the management, the National President of ICAN,  Deacon Titus  Shoetan, said that the gesture was part of their contribution towards promoting students knowledge and development of  the institution.

Shoetan explained that the complex could contain over 200 students of  Accounting Department in particular and  appealed to the University Management to  maintains the facility.

In his remarked, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, represented by the  Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Jelani Aliyu Yauri, said the state government appreciated ICAN for the donation  of the building to the university and assured them of  government’s full support.

In his reaction, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sahabi Maidsmma Jabo, expressed excitement of the institution over the gesture  extended to then and urged other professional bodies to emulate ICAN in order to promote education in Nigeria.

The Acting VC, who was represented by the Dean of Faculty of Arts, Social and Managment Science, Professor A.M. Bashir, said that the donation was a way of bring the university closer to the institute and assured them that the project would be use accordingly
