As part of effort to promote Igbo culture and traditions in the Diaspora, Igbo community in Mali has concluded arrangements to hold Igbo Festival of Arts and Culture in Mali on the 27th of November, 2022.
According to Chief Anslem C Nwosu, President General of Ndigbo Progressive Community in Mali, the festival promises to bring out the best of Igbo culture and showcase it to the international community.
In his words, Chief Nwosu said: As you may know, ancient Mali is rich in culture as it was once center of African civilizations. Today Ndigbo in their numbers are also here, doing their business. We thus concludes that it is proper for us to come together and celebrate our culture by showcasing it to the whole world.
On what Ndigbo stands to gain from the festival, Chief Nwosu said: “It will help our children to learn and sustain our culture. That day, Masqurades would be on ground, while Igbo delicacies and dishes will be available to entertain our guests.
“We have also sent invitations to Igbo leaders in neighbouring Countries like Eze Ndigbo Ghana, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Senega and Ivory Coast.. we believe that their presence would also add colour to the event.
Furthermore, Chief Nwosu said Igbo magazine would also be unveiled that day while people who has contributed to the development of Igbo community in Mali, would be recognized and honoured.
