Instagram comedian Pankeeroy has spoken in defence of young Nigerians, maintaining that they are hardworking as well as creative. 
The comedian whose real name is Nwagbo Chidera Oliver, stated: “Youths nowadays are facing a lot of challenges, which included chronic poverty and lack of support from the government. Nonetheless, a lot of young people did not rely on government or wait upon the society’s establishments, but instead take the initiative to make ends meet and earn themselves a decent living.”
Continuing, he said: “That is why some of us became comedians. For example, I studied computer science, but I have so far earned a living as a comedian. I have fallen back on my innate ability. That is what millions of youths are doing, exploiting our innate talents instead of joining the unemployment pool.”
Pankeeroy, who is originally from Anambra State but born in Lagos, is an alumnus of the Redeemers University. The 2019 graduate is presently one of the influential comedians on Instagram with over half a million followers.
Observing that what youths deserve from government are support and empathy, he stated: “We have seen a generation of young Nigerians graduated and unable to secure gainful employment, that is why the new generation now take over the social media and created a world of opportunities. By now government should be talking about how the system can support young Nigerians in their various efforts to earn an honest living.”
As far as Pankeeroy is concerned, Nigerian youths are unleashing their potential and have demonstrated that they can take Nigeria to the Promised Land. “When you look at the strides being made by young Nigerians in ICT, entertainment, sports and literature and even business, abroad and at home, then, it is clear that a little more support from government will definitely help this country to claim its rightful place as the giant of Africa,” Pankeeroy asserted.
