Odion Ighalo will make his second successive appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup next year.

Ighalo’s team, Al Hilal will represent Asia at the tournament in Morocco next year.

The Asian Football Governing Body, AFC gave Al Hilal the go ahead to play in the tournament as the AFC Champions League 2022 would only be completed after the Club World Cup 2022.

The competitions’ committee agreed to the nomination of Al Hilal SFC, the reigning Asian club champions as the AFC’s representative.

Al Hilal also participated in the last edition, finishing fourth, after losing in the third place match to CAF champion’s League winner, Al Ahly.

Despite missing out on a medal, Ighalo became the first Nigerian to score in the tournament. He found the back of the net in the 6-1 victory over Al Jazira at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.

The former Manchester United forward has been in good form for Al Hilal and will be aiming to extend his record in the competition next year.
