Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has promised not to disappoint the people of Abia South senatotrial district if he was elected to represent the zone at the red Chambers in the February 25 polls.

The zone is presently represented by the former Senate Minority leader, Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe who is now contesting the seat with Ikpeazu, on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Ikpeazu made the promise at Ahiaba community school, in Obingwa Local Government Area, while addressing the people of his local government in the course of his campaign.

He reminded the people that since he became governor, if he had made 10 promises to them, he had been able to fulfill at least eight, stressing that his going to the Senate will embolden him to do more.

While stating he had not come to Obingwa to campaign being his own local government, Ikpeazu said he came to inform his people he had gone round the other local governments of Abia South and the consensus opinion was they want him in the Senate to continue from where he will stop as governor.

“I have not come here in Obingwa to campaign, as my people, I came to inform you that I have gone round the other local governments areas in the zone and their consensus opinion was that I should go to the Senate.

“I have accepted that consensus opinion and the assurance I will give is I’m not going to disappoint you if I go to the Senate; those things I could not do as governor, I will accomplish as a senator”.

Ikpeazu said all candidates given ticket on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the state, were done based on justice and fair play and urged the people to vote for all the PDP candidate at the polls.

During the campaign, the former youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Chikezie Orji Monday, aka (Momoh), decamped to PDP.

Monday said he left his former party with 1,000 of his supporters because a particular chieftain of the party has destroyed was remained of it in the state.

He promised to work towards the actualization of the dream of Ikpeazu going to the Senate.
