Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has, again, stated that his administration will work assiduously towards the completion of the Bakassi deep sea port.
Speaking during a courtesy visit on him in Calabar by the Managing Director of Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) Mrs Adeisa Bala Mohammed and her management team, Ayade said the project was not in contest with the already existing Calabar port, but rather to complement its services.
Ayade said: “This project, will, no doubt, go a long way to assuage the plight of the people of Bakassi, who, by no fault of theirs, have become refugees in their own ancestral home.
“By the time the project takes off, they would recognise the fact that president Buhari truly loves them. Your presence here underscores the fact that our Bakassi deep sea port project is a reality,” he said.
Managing Director, Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Adeisa Bala Mohammed, said she and her management team were in the state for an inspection tour of facilities at the Calabar port.
Mohammed said the courtesy visit was intended to collaborate with the state government in order to reposition the Calabar port for effective services, assuring that in no distant time the traffic in the port would improve.
