From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja
Ahead of the November 18, Anambra State governorship election, former minister of State for Transport, Prince John Emeka, has promised to transform the state into a first class society if elected governor.
Emeka, who is aspiring to govern the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated this in Abuja after collecting the party’s Expression of Interest/ Nomination at the weekend.
The gubernatorial hopeful said based on his experience as an entrepreneur and politician, he would make a positive difference in the leadership if given the opportunity to lead.
He noted that his experience and entrepreneurial drive, stands him out from other aspirants seeking for the PDP ticket.
“I believe I have it all it takes to provide credible leadership to make Anambra a first class society. I am an entrepreneur, a politician and I believe I have the experience too,” he said.
Emeka stated that the PDP have a bright chance to win the governorship poll, especially as the leaders of the party have decided to zone the gubernatorial ticket to Anambra North.
According to him, “The PDP constitution allows for a consensus candidate. And the elders of our party have taken the decision to zone the governorship to Anambra north. With this, we can provide a formidable front to confront whoever we’ll face in the election.”
Speaking on the threat by the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) that the governorship poll would not hold, Emeka said he does not see how a group could stop an election in any part of the country, adding that “I don’t see how a group can stop an election in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. There are issues but we are addressing those issues. We have to restore our core values by bringing hope to the hopeless.”
