The Kwara State Police command, on Tuesday, at a Magistrate court in  Ilorin, arraigned the Oloota of Odo Owa and nine others  from both Iloffa and Odo Owa communities over the recent communal clash.

The charge sheet which was read at the court are criminal  conspiracy, rioting armed with deadly weapons, culpable homicide,  mischief by fire, voluntarily causing  grievous hurt and inciting disturbance contrary to sections 97,107,221,337,243 and 114 of penal code.

First information report FIR read by Adekunle Iwalaiye ASP said on 29thJune , 2017 a communal crises erupted between Ilofa and Odo Owa communities that are neighbouring towns in One Ero local Government Area of the state as a result of misunderstanding arising from a dispute that erupted over rightful community to launch the new yam into the Obada market being used by the two communities between their two traditional rulers,  Oba Samuel O.  Dada the Alofa of Ilofa and Oba Joshua A.  Adimula the Oolota of Odo owa  in which the Oba of Joshua A.  Adimula the Oloota of Odo Owa repotesly led a group of people into the market to disrupt  the process of launching the new yam into the market already being carried out in the market by Iya Loja of Ilofa Abigeal Oladipo ‘f’ on the instruction of Oba Samuel O Dada the Alofa of Ikofa.

” The crises which erupted at the market place later resulted into a mayhem between the two communities during which two people were  reportedly killed, about 26 houses and four vehicles burnt , while several people had various degrees of injuries.

” During the course of investigation Police investigation conducted by this Department, over three hundred expended live cartridges of Ammunition used by the rioters to perpetrate the crime were recovered  from various locations within the two communities.

Investigation conducted  further revealed that the following members of the two communities actively participated in the mayhem together with several others stl at large.  1. Sumonu Amusa,  samuel Babatunde,  Moses on I all males of various addresses in Ilofa community and Ashaoku Seun,  Owolabi Dare,  Lasunkanmi Akinola,  Oladipo Adebayo, Aderemi Adeniji and Aboyeji Olasupo all male from Odo Owa community.

” Further  investigation revealed that the actions of Oba Joshua A.  Adimula the Oolota of Odo Owa in the market on that day ignited the crises.
