Ona Ekhomu is a management and security consultant. He is also a lecturer and policy analyst. Ekhomu addresses critical issues on personal and corporate security. He’s Nigeria’s first chartered security professional and president of the Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operators of Nigeria (AISSON). Sunday Sun asked him about his favourites recently.

What’s your favourite food?

My favourite food is pounded yam with bitter leaf soup or vegetable soup.

Drink?

Water

Favourite attire?

Agbada. Any serious event I am attending, I wear Nigerian attires. People say I am a good ambassador because of this.

Favourite fashion accessory?

Fila. I am a fila guy. I have my own brand. When I am going overseas, instead putting on American fedora hat, I wear the fila. Even at the airport when I am cruising around, people recognize me in my fila and if I must put on a suit, I still wear my fila. A lot of young people particularly in Chicago where I stay, now ask me for the fila to wear with their own outfits.

Favourite on-air personality?

I am a news buff and I like people who are able to analyse the news. If I must choose among them, I will choose Sulaiman Aledeh of Channels Television. He is young, intelligent and intense.

Favourite world leader?

Barrack Obama. He’s a star as far as I am concerned and unique. They want him to do certain things certain ways. Even when it appears that he is out of step with the whole country, he just doesn’t dance to their music.

Favourite sports?

I love to jog and run but I do it in my room on the treadmill.

Favourite holiday spot?

Irrua, Edo State. My village. When I go there, I am at peace and I don’t want to come back to Lagos.

Favourite car?

I mostly use Toyota.

Favourite weather?

Summer. I am a hot weather person anytime.

Favourite quote?

You can’t give what you don’t have.

Favourite music?

Esan music which is the music of my village people. But for danceable songs, I love King Sunny Ade’s music.

Favourite fruit?

I love watermelon.

Favourite movies?

Mentalist, NCIS

Favourite day of the week?

Saturday
