Following the honour bestowed on Afro pop star, Tuface Idibia by the Music Department of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) recently, the music icon has declared that he was humbled by the recognition.

In a chat with TS Weekend, Tuface Idibia said: “It was a humbling experience for me. For an institution of OAU’s standing to honour me with the first ever Fellow of its School of Music is recognition that will challenge me to do even more. I hope it also inspires many other young people across Africa to work hard and stay focussed on their dreams.”

On Wednesday, March 20, Tuface blazed a trail when the Obafemi Awolowo University bestowed upon the Master of Arts in Music honorary degree holder from Igbinedion University its first  ever Fellow of its School of Music, which was presented to him at the department’s maiden public lecture and fellowship award, where he presented a paper themed: ‘Two Decades of Afro-pop in Nigeria: The Perspective of 2Baba’.

The event was followed by a performance at the Oduduwa Hall of the university and in attendance were friends, well wishers, fans and staff of the university including his manager, Efe Omorogbe.
