Amira Ibrahim Alfa is the face of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2017 (AFWN). The young lady who recently moved back from London had her first degree in Advertising and Masters degree in Theatre Arts. How did she emerge the face of AFWN 2017? “ It’s amazing. I still can’t believe it, because I feel it’s an amazing platform that actually showcased upcoming designers. It’s a pleasure to be part of the show,” she says. She spoke with Sunday Sun about her favourites.
Favourite food
Efo riro and pounded yam. It’s always been my thing.
Favourite colour
All shades of blue. I have always loved blue.
Favourite weather
Summer. Winter is too cold; in winter you get all bundled up and you can’t really showcase your style. At summer time, you can put on a nice dress, a nice shirt, shorts and you can mix things up and come out fantastic.
Favourite fashion accessory
It has to be my bracelet. I have had this bracelet since 2007.
Favourite car
I love the black Bentley with red interior.
Favourite music
It has to be Rnb and soul. I love soul music. I like Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner. Theirs is the kind of music I like.
Favourite movie
I would not say I have a favourite movie. But if I had to pick out of film genres, it would have to be action and musicals. Honestly I do not mind watching anything as long as it doesn’t bore me.
Favourite outfit
I would not say I have a specific style. I normally dress according to how I feel at any moment. I am very open to trying new styles and trends.
Favourite drink
It definitely has to be strawberry and Kiwi flavoured Snapple. I could drink 2/3 a day if I had my way. It’s literally my addiction.
Favourite sports?
I love athletics. I love running. I used to do 100 metres, 200 metres and relay in secondary school. I have always been a sports person.
Favourite leader
I love Obama. He just has this calm way of presenting things even if it’s a harsh situation. You just see this cool, calm and collected guy. He thinks youthfully. Definitely, it has to be Obama.
Favourite designer
In Nigeria, I love Tiffany Amber; all her stuff are really classic. My favourite designer abroad is Ferrigamo.
Favourite perfume
Marc Jacob. I love their Gaisy collections.
Favourite pet
My dog. I have a dog. I love my dog. We’ve had dogs since we were little. I just got one recently; it’s so tiny and I love it.
