Ahead of the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, the Alh Kasimu Bello Maigari, has reiterated that he is still the valid candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Jalingo /Yorro / Zing federal constituency in Taraba State.
Maigari was reacting to rumours making the rounds especially on the new media that a court in Adamawa had invalidated his nomination and restricted him from contesting the post.
Addressing journalists in Jalingo on Friday, Maigari said that his name and that of Gambo Mubarak, who won the APC ticket at the party primaries in the state to contest the Bali/Gassol federal constituency were initially replaced with the names of the current serving members of the constituencies but a Federal High Court upturned the decision in their favour.

He said that though the serving members had both appealed the judgement and the Court of Appeal had not even sat to hear the cases let alone give judgement, contrary to the information making the rounds.
“Gentlemen, my attention has been drawn to a fake report making the rounds on the social media that the Appeal Court sitting in Yola has upturned the judgement of the Federal High Court which says that I am the rightful candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Jalingo/ Yorro/ Zing federal constituency. This information is not only very fake but mischievous and should be disregarded completely.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I won my case at the Federal High Court; although the honourable member has gone ahead to appeal the judgement, the Court of Appeal has not even sat to mention the case let alone pass judgement. In any case, even if the court has passed judgement and it went the other way, the court cannot stop us from appealing the case at the next court which is the Supreme Court. So, it is most unfortunate that mischievous people are circulating this wrong information just to cause confusion ahead of the election tomorrow.”
