Residents of Obodoukwu Community, Ideato North Local Government Area of  Imo State have cried out over the dangerous state of the only road that links them with other communities,

They lamented that they have completely been cut-off from civilisation because of the bad condition of the road.

President General of Obodoukwu Development Union,  Ben Obidiegwu in a statement said they could no longer assess neighbouring communities as erosion had cut the only road into two. He added that the state of the road worsened when the contractor handling the two kilometre road left.

Obidiegwu said the construction of the road was awarded in 2015 by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) at the cost of N245 million, but that the contractor reportedly left site after less than 500 meters had been sand filled.

President Muhammadu Buhari recently issued fresh directives on acceleration of implementation of his administration’s new vision for the development of the Niger Delta region.
