The Lagos State Branch of Mgbidi Community in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State is set to hold her annual Owu cultural festival of peace.

The event which will take place at Hope Bay College premises, Fijabi Street, Alaba Oro, Amukoko on Sunday, August 14, 2022, will be attended by sons, daughters of Mgbidi, friends, well-wishers, invited guests and lovers of tradition and culture.

The ‘Akuzuonu’ Mgbidi, Chief Chike Ejimofor, will be the Special Guest of Honour, while Chief Innocent Ononaikpo, Mr Ifechukwu Ukwuegbu, Mr Innocent Nwafor and Mr Okey C. Abiakamu ‘Nwatamarakpaku’ are guests of Honour.

Also, the Eze Ndigbo of Mushin Lagos State, His Royal Highness, Eze Lawrence Obijieze, will be the Royal Father of the day.

The event will also serve as an opportunity for the community to gather together to deliberate, raise funds for development and empowerment.

Members of the Community will further use the gathering to share ideas on how to move forward in various aspects of human endeavours.

Owu festival has been described by many as a culture that unites, entertains and makes the people happy.

During the festival, people prepare special food, eat and come out with their best attires to watch the dancers who dress in clean white clothes, with various decorations attached.

The dancers also entertain the people with different styles of dancing steps that make them unique from one another.
