THE Peoples Democratic Party has said it was yet to withdrew its support for the Vitalis Okafor-led Imo State PDP Caretaker Committee.

Daily Sun investigation showed that the state chapter has been polarised into factions over the composition of the caretaker committee believed to be loyal to former deputy speaker of House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha. Leading agitation for the dissolution of the Imo PDP caretaker committee is Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Further investigation indicated that trouble-shooting efforts by the National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu- Sheriff failed to placate the Uzodinma group.

Reacting to speculation that the Vitalis Okafor-led leadership of the party has been dissolved, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh dismissed it as unfounded, as he noted that the party’s National Working Committee would continue to accord it legitimacy.

“The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to misconceptions and misinterpretation of the state of affairs in the Imo State chapter of the party.

“The NWC, hereby clarifies that the local government and ward caretaker committees have not been dissolved by the party. They are fully in charge of the ward and local government affairs of the party in the state and are hereby directed to work with the Vitalis Okafor-led State Caretaker Committee…”
