Imo  State Governor, Rochas Okorocha assured, yesterday, that his administration will conduct local government polls between September and October, this year, in order to quell agitation by residents and opposition parties.

This was just as he stated that the council poll will not involve rigorous party primaries that would divide the party.

Okorocha said this at the state headquarters of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo  State Council, during an interactive forum.

He assured the council poll will hold between September and October this year.

The Imo state  governor, who said the parley with journalists in the state was to update them on the programmes of his administration, in order to bridge the communication gap, admitted that the Judiciary in the state has suffered neglect .

He, however, the neglect  on judicial autonomy and promised that soon, the state judiciary will move to the new Justice Oputa Complex, under construction in New Owerri.

Okorocha  also  listed his projects to include Imo my pride,  Urban renewal, fulfilling failed promises by former administrations, the establishment of  state development council, coming back home project, Imo industrial park, Freedom Day, among others.

The governor denied any form of rancour among APC Governors Forum, and said: “my colleagues are happy with me.

“We are a united family and there is no truth that they are planning to remove me as chairman.”
