The Kwara State  Government has  implored residents of Ilorin Metropolis to always patronize Commercial Waste Collectors to consolidate on the efforts of the present administration in bolstering a clean and hygienic environment.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Remilekun Oluwatobi Banigbe, disclosed this Tuesday during an interaction with newsmen at the Ministry’s headquarters.
According to her, “the present administration under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has invested heavily in achieving a clean and hygienic environment that will be habitable to Kwarans.
“Consequently, it is mandatory for every citizen to patronize commercial waste Collectors for proper disposal to the final dumping site.”
The commissioner emphasized that indiscriminate dumping of garbage will cause havoc to society and also increase government spending.
She, therefore, warned that, henceforth, anybody caught dumping on the median or inside the drainage will be prosecuted by the Kwara State Environmental law.
Mrs Banigbe also implored Commercial Waste Managers to always discharge their responsibilities in line with the agreement signed with the government for effective and efficient waste disposal in the state.
