Resident Electoral Commissioner in Enugu State, Emeka Ononamadu has said that the Commission has commenced retrieving election materials deployed to the 17 local government areas back to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for safe custody.

Ononamadu disclosed this yesterday when he addressed a press conference at the Commission’s office on it activities to ensure that the already distributed sensitive and non-sensitive materials were properly secured.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner said that the reasons for bringing the materials back to CBN despite the fact that adequate security had been provided in those LGAs was to assuage and assure citizens of the commission’s neutrality in the polls.

He regretted that the Commission had to call off the election despite having consistently announced its readiness to conduct the polls.

Fielding questions from newsmen on the actual number of collected permanent voters card in the state, Ononamadu, said that of 1.9 million registered voters in the state, about 1,745,000 had collected their PVCs leaving about 155,000 uncollected PVCs.
