The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that a total number of 72,775,502 electorate have been issued Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), to participate in the 2019 general elections.

The commission’s Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, who made the disclosure during the daily media briefing on the progress ahead of this weekend’s presidential and National Assembly elections in Abuja, also said that a total number of 11,228,582 uncollected PVCs have been quarantined into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for safekeeping until after the general elections.

Dismissing insinuations that he might not conduct the elections, the INEC boss said that his position was not under threat, stressing that he was not contemplating resignation.
