The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Adamawa State governorship election inconclusive after it said the total number of cancelled polls in 44 polling units were higher than the margin of victory between the two leading candidates and therefore insisted that a new date for a rerun would soon be announced.
The state Returning Officer, Professor Andrew Haruna made the announcement at the INEC head office on Monday in Yola, Adamawa State.
Haruna said the number of cancelled votes was higher than the margin of victory between the two main contestants in the elections and therefore a new date for a rerun would be scheduled.
He explained that about 44 polling units were affected by the cancellation and therefore it was mandatory to conduct a rerun.
However, the results of the 21 local governments in Adamawa, point to a PDP win as the umbrella party had already cleared 12 of the 21 local governments whose results were declared by Professor Andrew Haruna of the Federal University, Gashuwa.
