The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said the Commission has received a petition for the recall of Abubakar Galadima Kuki, member representing Bebeji Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, from his constituents.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Prince Adedeji S. Soyebi, the commission said  it had formally written to inform Kuki of the presentation of the petition in accordance with the INEC guidelines for recall.

“A timetable and schedule of activities pursuant to the petition will be issued shortly,” the Commission noted.

This is coming after Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on the same day fixed September 11, for judgment in an interlocutory application by Senator Dino Melaye, seeking an order of court to stop his recall from the senate.

Also fixed for judgment that same day is a sister suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 12 others, who are members of the Kogi State chapter of the party against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), challenging the planned recall of Melaye.
