The Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Deji Tinubu, on Wednesday tasked the newly elected FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, to restore credibility to FIFA.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gianni Infantino is faced with the task of bringing back the glory days of FIFA after his
election to replace Sepp Blatter.

Infantino, a Swiss-Italian lawyer turned football administrator came to the saddle of FIFA presidency on the heels of alleged corruption which has badly damaged the body’s reputation.

In his inaugural speech, Infantino had said that he would run an open administration to the benefit of the world football.

“I want to be the president of all of you, of all 209 nations.

“I want to work with all of you to work together and build a new era where we can put football at the centre of the stage,’’ he said.

On the task ahead of Infantino, Tinubu urged the newly elected president to work for the unity of the world football and also
ensure that its credibility was restored.

“Infantino has a massive job on his hand, which is to bring back the glory days of FIFA.

“He should try to win the confidence of the people back; he needs to make FIFA credible as it used to be; he needs to unite all the factions in the FIFA executives.

FIFA seems not be credible again but credibility can be restored,’’ he said.
